Cameron Outfitters packs you, your party, and your gear on horseback and mules into one of their remote backcountry camps in Unit 17, then leaves you to hunt it.
The camp is furnished: two 12x14 tents, a wood-fired heating stove in each, a cot and pad for every hunter, a propane cooking stove with a large bottle, a full kitchen cupboard and table, a chair each, lanterns, a portable toilet, bow saw, axe, shovel, and a radio set up to talk to base camp.
You arrive at base camp the evening before. They go over maps and give you a thorough orientation of the area and the camps, pack most of your gear that night, then feed you dinner and breakfast and send lunch in with you. Once an animal is down, field dressing and caping are yours. Get the quarters somewhere the pack mules can reach and their packers will bring the meat back to base camp and hang it, ready for you when they pack you out.

Drop camp hunts are not for everyone. This is a hunt for people who already know what they are doing in remote country. The tags are guaranteed outfitter tags, so there is no draw to enter.

They hold exclusive guiding rights to more than 800 square miles of the Selway-Bitterroot and Frank Church wilderness areas, with 25 authorised camps spread from Burnt Mountain in the north to Parker Mountain in the south.
