This is the hunt the Rivets specialise in and the one they are known for. Five days in tree stands over baited sites in the Alberta boreal, where the average bear runs seven feet and a great percentage come in colour phase.
Baiting is deliberate: it lets you judge sex and size before you draw. They are after mature old males, and they would rather you passed a bear than took the wrong one.
Their bear hunting has been filmed for Cameron Hanes' Bush Dragon, Bush Dragon 2 and Bush Dragons 3, with a fourth on the way. Back at the lodge, Jenn's smoked bear ham is legendary.
Transport between the lodge and the hunt area is provided for the five days.
Deposits are non-refundable, the balance is due 1 February for spring hunts, and final payment is by bank wire only. Skinning and field dressing are included; butchering, packaging and transporting the meat are yours, and game meat cannot be shipped out.
