Kenai Riverside Resort sits on two acres of Kenai River frontage at river mile 25, ten minutes from the middle of Soldotna and at the end of a country road.
The resort is five heated canvas cabins and two bungalows: 320 square feet of living space, four full beds, a pellet stove, electricity at every bed, a private shower block per group, wifi across the property, and nearly 400 feet of private riverbank with a dock and a fillet station. They run two more conventional options nearby as well, hand-built log cabins at Kenai Riverside Cabins & Lodge and apartment-style units at Kenai Riverside Suites, both with their own river access.
What they actually sell is a stay plus an itinerary. You pick one of four packages, pick a number of days from one to seven, pick a lodging tier, and the resort builds the schedule: Kenai and Kasilof river salmon, Homer and Ninilchik halibut, float-plane bear viewing and fly-in fishing on the west side of Cook Inlet, Kenai Fjords marine tours out of Seward, Exit Glacier hiking and ice climbing, Six Mile Creek whitewater, jet-ski glacier tours in Prince William Sound, and razor clam digging on the west-side beaches.
Their guide crew are Kenai River Guide Academy graduates holding USCG captain's licences, most of them with the resort five years or more. Evenings are a 7pm social hour, dinner, and live music several nights a week.
