Content Policy
Effective 13 August 2026 · Version 1.0
This sets out what we require of content published on WildHQ, and what we do ourselves with photography and imagery. Our Acceptable Use Policy covers what nobody may publish; this document is about standards rather than prohibitions, and the two apply together.
This policy forms part of our Terms of Use and our Outfitter Subscription Terms.
1.Who is responsible for what
1.1An outfitter is responsible for their profile, their listings, their prices, their photographs, and any claim they make about licensing, insurance, seasons, or outcomes.
1.2We may build or edit an outfitter's pages for them. Doing so does not make the content ours to stand behind, and it does not transfer responsibility for its accuracy. Nothing we build is published until the outfitter has reviewed it and told us to publish.
1.3We do not verify listings before they go live. We may remove or unpublish anything that breaches this policy.
2.Listings must be accurate and complete enough to be useful
2.1A published listing needs a title, a cover photograph, and a price. A published profile needs a business name and a hero photograph. We may require more before publishing.
2.2Prices must state their unit, so a traveler can tell a per-person rate from a per-day rate from a whole-trip rate. A price with no unit will not be published, because it reads as a different number to different people.
2.3Where a price is a starting figure it is shown as such, and it must be a figure the outfitter will honor for the trip as described.
2.4Seasons, dates, durations, species, methods, licensing notes, accommodation, and inclusions must describe what the outfitter actually offers.
2.5Keep it current. An outfitter is responsible for updating their pages when prices, dates, or availability change. We do not track those for them.
3.Photography standards
3.1Rights come first. Do not give us a photograph you do not own or hold a license for that covers publication on a commercial marketplace. A license obtained for a previous website may not cover this use. If you are unsure, do not send it.
3.2Cover and hero images show live animals in their country, landscape, water, camp, or the work of the trip. They do not show harvested animals. Photographs of a harvest are welcome and expected inside a listing's gallery, including near the front, and on a fishing listing a fish in hand is often the most useful frame there is. The distinction is placement: the image that introduces a trip is not a harvest photograph.
3.3A photograph must be in scope for the listing it appears on.Do not put a raft on a trip that does not float, a snow scene on a spring hunt, or one species on another species' listing.
3.4No two listings share a cover image. A cover identifies a trip.
3.5Credit and attribution. Where a photograph carries a credit or a license requirement, tell us and we will display it.
3.6We may resize, crop, compress, and color-correct images to fit the pages they appear on.
4.Imagery we create
4.1We produce photography, editorial writing, and imagery ourselves. That material belongs to WildHQ, as section 9.2 of the Terms of Use and section 6.4 of the Outfitter Subscription Terms set out.
4.2Some imagery on WildHQ is generated rather than photographed. We use it where an outfitter's own library cannot illustrate a trip, and we hold a record of every generated image, including the tool and the description used to make it.
4.3What a generated image may show, and what it may never show. This is the boundary and we hold ourselves to it:
| May show | A species in its habitat, and the country a trip takes place in. Both are facts the listing already states. |
| May never show | People, clients, guides, camps, tents, lodges, vehicles, boats, equipment, or a harvested animal. |
The reason for the line is that a species in the right country illustrates something the listing already tells you. A generated camp or a generated animal in hand would be a claim about what a traveler receives on arrival, and nobody made that promise.
4.4An outfitter's own photograph that we have relit, cleaned up, or color-corrected is not a generated image. The subject is real and only the rendering changed.
4.5We tell an outfitter which images on their pages are generated, and we replace any of them with a real photograph whenever the outfitter sends us one.
4.6Where we describe the country in a generated image we describe the landform rather than naming a mountain range or a named place, because a named place returns a postcard rather than the country a trip actually crosses.
5.Descriptions and editorial writing
5.1We write and edit listing descriptions, category introductions, and editorial material.
5.2We do not invent facts about an outfitter's operation. Where a description states a duration, a species, a season, a ratio, or a price, it comes from the outfitter.
5.3We do not publish review counts, ratings, response rates, or badges we do not have real data behind.
6.Sponsored and promoted content
6.1Where content is paid for, whether an advertisement, a sponsored placement, or a promoted listing, it is labeled so it is distinguishable from content we publish editorially.
6.2Where we earn a commission from a link, we say so where the link appears.
6.3Paying us does not buy a favorable description. We write what we write.
7.Reviews
Where the Service lets travelers publish reviews, we publish them as written except where they breach the Acceptable Use Policy or this document. We do not edit a review to change its meaning, we do not remove a review for being unfavorable, and an outfitter cannot pay to have one removed.
8.Enforcement and appeals
8.1We may unpublish or remove content that breaches this policy. Where it is reasonable to do so we tell the outfitter first and give them a chance to fix it.
8.2If we remove something and you think we got it wrong, reply to the notice we sent and we will look again.
8.3Repeated breaches lead to suspension under section 17 of the Outfitter Subscription Terms.
