About The Trip

The Steelhead Fly Fishing Package:

This 3 to 5-day guided trip takes place on the Wallowa, Grande Ronde, and Snake Rivers and is designed to target Steelhead and challenge anglers, unlike many others. The size and beauty of these fish, paired with their responsiveness to swung, skated, and dead-drifted flies, make Steelhead truly special. The most productive time to book a Grande Ronde steelhead guide is generally the end of September through November. While fish can still be found much later than this, guides typically begin to focus our guided steelhead fly fishing trips on the Wallowa River through the winter until the end of March. Accommodations:

  • 3 to 5-day guided fishing trip
  • Camping equipment
  • Rafting equipment
  • Fishing Equipment (if needed)
  • Food and beverages
  • Transportation to and from the river
  • Guests will need to purchase valid licenses separately.

About Steelhead:

In Northeast Oregon, they are lucky enough to have the opportunity to fish for Steelhead six months out of the year. The first fish begin to enter the lower portions of the Grande Ronde River in mid-September and continue to be present throughout the Grande Ronde and Wallowa Rivers through the end of March. The Minam Store's most popular trip to target these spectacular fish is a Multi-Day guided trip down the roadless section of the Grande Ronde. However, they can also target Steelhead in the Wallowa River and Snake River through Hells Canyon.

All of the Minam Store fly fishing guides are prepared to assist guests in whatever method they see best fit to target Steelhead. Due to Steelhead's size and aggressive nature, seven and eight-weight rods are appropriate. Spey or switch rods to swing long, wide-open runs and single-hand rods with dry lines and nymphs fished under an indicator are standard setups.

Deposit & Cancellation Policy:

A 50% down payment is required to book a trip, with the final payment due 30 days before launch. Deposits and final payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. Effective July 25, 2020, all guests making reservations for multi-day trips are required to purchase CFAR (cancel for any reason) Travel Insurance to protect their investment and ours. We recommend purchasing your CFAR travel insurance through a company like AIG Travel Guard or Travelex. We must refrain from investing money into equipment, guides, trip supplies, and food to give you the best river trip possible and then refund money when events cause you to cancel or us to cancel for reasons that may be out of anyone's control. Covid-19 regulations and travel restrictions are everchanging, and purchasing CFAR travel insurance will protect your investment. We cannot give cash refunds for any reason whatsoever. We cannot make exceptions due to medical or family emergencies, weather conditions, or travel restrictions imposed by local, state, or federal agencies. CFAR travel insurance protects your investment whether you cancel for any reason or we are unable to perform the trip. Most insurance companies require trip insurance to be purchased within a couple of weeks of making your deposit, so make sure to put it on track.
